Cascadia Subduction Emergency Seed Bank (Disaster Resilience)
It is scientifically agreed upon that we will experience a large earthquake at some time in the future. In addition, our response in the Eugene-Springfield area to recent ice-storms, has been very spotty. We have the capability to create large seed yields fairly quickly. It would therefore make sense to have distributed Seed Banks throughout our Cascadia Bioregion and that is what this discussion thread is for.

After our February 2024 Cascadia Seed Guild meeting, we had an internal meeting today with @Steven Morris and discussed using Holochain to update our underlying Web 02 technology, more news on this soon.

In support of this project, I have posted calls for volunteers, supporters, sponsors, etc. in two different Facebook groups at two different scales. Locally (for me), the group Meaningful Conversations Tacoma. The idea there is to assemble an urban gardener network to partner with and support the seed bank. Also globally, I posted in Robin Lincoln Wood’s group Healing Ourselves, Healing Our Planet. The idea there is to get the eyes of green tech innovators on this project and to make it a demonstration project for global replication. That local-to-global stack is central to all my social change thinking. (Influenced by Joe Brewer, but incorporating other perspectives along with Joe’s).
