  • thanks for the further thoughts. It is tricky catch 22 thing. Do you name the region first which then draws people to see that there is something going on nested in the RC site who then get the idea of what it might belike to organize a ‘hub’ …., or, do you gather the people first then develop the focus needed to make a decision to name the area. in some ways I prefer the latter but it does take more time. I feel the names I would suggest are the common ones used in the region as I know the region well and don’t think I would be off base. So then I needed to get more understanding of where the admin team was coming from in asking the question.

  • thanks Tanja. I was wanting to name the subgroups based on the river confluences where town/cities/communities have formed.

  • I think it is time to start an Upper Columbia group with several sub community groups spaces on the website. Please be in touch to let me know next steps.

Thanks so much Clare for bringing in the need to decolonize learning and referencing Vanessa’s work and her book Hospicing Modernity which to me feel essential for our work in regeneration and bioregionalism. Clare Attwell, Pam Woodland and I were just at a powerful session with Vanessa and a chief from the Amazon presenting about the indigenous University of the Forest at U. Victoria where she is Chair of the Education department.
Also there is some great material from her collectivize has created on Decolonizing Conversation here https://decolonialfutures.net/portfolio/depth-conversations/

Overview for Feb 15 meeting and agenda
    Hi all

Please Look over the meeting overview in the Bioregional Learning Circle Log – Circle log link and indicate topics you wish to have added to the agenda. Letting us know these ahead of time allows for better budgeting of our meeting time.

Also to make the meeting move more effectively, can each of you giving Information Reports , provide us with some brief bullet points in advance of the meeting .

    See you Thursday 11:15.

    Larry and Jan

  • Great, and can you raise the questions about Columbia river tributaries e.g. Willamette with the team

  • I am picking up this thread again. The sub group I would like to name for now is West Kootenay as it is both a tributary of the Upper Columbia and a common name of the community. However I feel that Willamette Valley also needs to sit under the larger title of Columbia River for this taxonomy to work and at present it seems to be identified as its own group .

  • thanks for setting up the Upper Columbia. Is there a concern regarding needing other people to be discussing the naming the sub groups first??

Thanks, The title of the one film is a bit off putting but the content in such a short videos is vital to understanding how we can have agency to changing our local water/drought/fire/flood conditions

Got your request. I have created a blurb on campfires that I would like to use to update the words that are already there from many weeks ago. I was going to ask Tanjia how to do that but you also likely can guide me through that.
